The Upside Down Detective Agency is a wonderful interactive story that cleverly draws in the reader. All of the children that I shared it with absolutely loved spotting the clues in the busy illustrations and became quite competitive at being the first to find them! This brought story time alive.

The simplicity of the story is a beautiful balance to the complexity of the illustrations which enables excited children to continue to follow the plot. The characters are beautifully drawn allowing the children to discuss emotions and body language of what is happening in each scene. We also moved on to discuss what they thought they might hear and smell in some of them, too.

This is a new favourite in our KS1 book group and is wonderful to share in a pair or small group. It would make a perfect interactive bedtime story. I know that this book will be a new favourite in the library as it already has a waiting list!
