Synopsis

The long awaited sequel to the award-winning favourite, There's a Bear on My Chair, from bestselling author and illustrator, Ross Collins.

The tables have turned in this fantastically funny rhyming picture book. This time, it's Bear who has an unwelcome guest, and that cheeky mouse just won't leave. He's making a real commotion in Bear's house - eating all the food, listening to loud music and even spilling bathwater all over the floor! But when there's an unexpected knock at the door, Bear decides that perhaps mice are actually rather nice!  A brilliant, brightly coloured gift that will make children laugh out loud.

A funny family story to share at bedtime (or any time!) From the bestselling creator of There's a Bear on My Chair, winner of the Amnesty CILIP Honour 2016 and shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal 2016. Also look out for This Zoo is Not for You, What Does An Anteater Eat and This is a Dog.

Carol

Poor Bear. He was quite happy sat in his chair. But now Mouse has turned up, unasked for and unannounced. All bear wants is for Mouse to go, so he can be left in peace.

With minimal words and expressive pictures, we can see from page 1 that Bear is a rather curmudgeonly creature while Mouse with his open smile and bright jumper is more fun-loving. He hangs picture, tries on costumes, drops food everywhere and even performs some taekwondo. Bear is long-suffering and unimpressed. But when all's said and done, and Mouse provides a party, it is quite nice to have a friend.

Short, sweet, with one wonderful 'O' rhyme running throughout (buffalo, pistachio, stereo, overflow), There's a Mouse in my House does a lot with a little. More than the sum of its parts, and a great prompt for discussion ('Do you think Bear's life would be better before or after Mouse arrived?'), There's a Mouse in my House is a warm, witty, wonderful addition to an Early Years bookshelf.
