'Happiness begins with you' is the last line of this book and is definitely the message that we want to give to our children. This book has so many important messages for children about the fact that it is ok if you don't feel happiness all the time, and the fact that you will feel happiness by doing the things that you love - whatever that may be.

This is the second book that Eva Eland has written that helps young children explore emotion and how they might deal with these feelings; her first, When Sadness Comes to Call, helps children understand why they sometimes feel sad. This latest book, along with the previous one, will lead to so many discussions around our feelings and will help develop empathy in children.

In Foundation Stage, the content of the book will support PSED (personal, social and emotional development), CLD (communication and Language) and Literacy.

The illustrations in the book are simple but the use of colour and composition compliments the story and adds to the messages in the book. An important read in helping young children understand their emotions and the emotions of others.
