Hop, alone in a dark wood with 100 hungry-eyed wolves watching, sticks out her tongue and runs. Fast. But wolves are faster. Waking in her burrow, Hop is comforted by Mummy who suggests burrowing deep underground the next time she has a bad dream. The next time, Hop is watched by 1000 hungry-eyed wolves. She burrows, but wolves with spades are faster! Mummy suggests flying into a new dream next time, but one hundred thousand wolves in helicopters are faster! Will Hop ever be able to escape her dream of hungry-eyed wolves? Or will they keep increasing in numbers?

This fun, adventurous story is hugely enjoyable and engaging. Children will very quickly be joining in with the repetition and making predictions on whether Hop will succeed in her challenges towards to the wolves. Wolves in Helicopters is a brilliant, beautifully illustrated story which the author and illustrator have cleverly created. It particularly makes great use of repetition and punctuation to engage children in participation and exposes children at a young age to adventure and action genres in a child-friendly and humorous way.
