The winners of the Blue Peter Book Awards 2019 have been announced, with The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q Rauf winning the Best Fiction award.

The Boy at the Back of the Class is an inspirational story about a Syrian refugee called Ahmet. At its heart, it's a tale about compassion, acceptance and understanding. The Colours of History by Clive Gifford and Marc-Etienne Peintre won the award for the Best Factual book. Why did Roman emperors wear purple? What green pigment might be used to build super-fast computers of the future? The Colours of History is a vibrant exploration of different colours and the roles they've played throughout time. The Blue Peter Book Awards 2019 celebrate the amazing books that have been published for children in the last year. The winning titles were voted for by over 300 children from 12 schools across the UK.
