CLPE (Centre for Literacy in Primary Education) is raising funds to build a library for its collection of 23,000 books and to provide a dedicated space for its teacher training programme.

It is expected the library will be used by around 2,000 teachers who work with CLPE annually as well as literacy charities and literature organisations as an event, library or a training space. CLPE is looking to raise 30,000 towards the building, match funded by the Garfield Weston Foundation's first 25,000 donation. Donors can pledge their support by buying a shelf (100), a book case (500) or an alcove (1000) in the new Literacy Library. You can find out more via the Literacy Library fundraising page, below. Author Julia Donaldson, who has worked with CLPE,has put her support behind the campaign: "Having seen the inspiring work CLPE do to help schools to use drama, poetry and stories in creative ways I fully support their bid for improving the building. "It's so exciting to think of their library being able to display all their 23,000 books, and that it could become a nationally renowned training centre for teachers, librarians and literacy charities."
