Laura Dockrill explores what being 'strong' can mean in her new picture book, I Am Strong Just Being Me; a story that can be used with young children to explore their own feelings and identity.
Introducing her picture book, Laura explains why she wanted to explore what children understand in the phrase 'Being strong', and to show that you don't need to be loud, or big, to be strong; strength comes in many different forms and guises. Through its pages, Laura and illustrator Kip Alizadeh also show the many different strengths in nature, which can be used to enhance these discussions.
"This is more than a story; it’s an invitation to children to embrace their feelings and understand that strength comes in many forms." - ReadingZone Review by Louise.
The story can be used with young children to explore feelings and strength, and especially to help generate discussions around our emotions and self belief.
