Where will you travel by book? World Kid Lit is launching a reading challenge for schools to encourage international and inclusive reading.
The World Kid Lit Reading Challenge Award is open for entries from 1 September to 10 October. Winners will be awarded for the most imaginative, innovative or inclusive presentations, where students reflect on what they have read.
The reading challenge aims to support reading for pleasure and encourage young people to explore international perspectives and global citizenship through reading in translation, and to see the value of a second language as a cultural and creative asset.
The Award is open to schools and their students aged up to 18 years and there are three prize categories: Younger category for readers aged 0-6 Middle category for readers aged 7-12 Older category for readers 13+
How to enter
Run an international reading challenge in your school, where participants read a range of books from other countries, and then share what they have read in a reflective display or presentation.
The organiser World Kid Lit will make a web link available from 1 September for the lead teacher or librarian to send the school's entries.
Further entry details, including a slideshow about the awards, can be found here. Email any questions to [email protected] with 'Reading Challenge' in the subject line.
