The Blue Peter Book Awards 2018 is looking for school children to help choose the winning books in two categories: the Best Story and the Best Book with Facts for its 2018 awards. Entries are now open for schools to apply to be part of the expert reading panel.

Schools need at least 20 pupils in year 5 and/or 6 (or P6 and P7 in Scotland) to vote for their favourite shortlisted book in each category. The deadline to apply is 13 October - more information is available via the Booktrust website, below. Schools chosen to help judge the award will be sent copies of the shortlisted titles, which will be announced publicly on the Blue Peter programme airing 23rd November 2017. Children can then start to read them, ready to vote by Monday 29th January 2018. BookTrust, which manages the Blue Peter Book Awards, is looking to recruit at least 200 Year 5 and 6 pupils, or P6 and P7 in Scotland, from 12 primary or middle schools in the UK. Children who participate in the award will receive a Blue Peter badge following the winners' announcement in March 2018.
