How can you make reading at home fun? Farshore's research shows that children's own choice, and a wide range of reading options, are good places to start.  

Alison David, consumer insights director at publisher Farshore, continues her series where she provides advice to families on encouraging reading for pleasure.

In this short video, Alison David tells us how to encourage reading at home by making it something that is fun to do - especially when children are the ones choosing what they want to read, or have read to them.  A wide choice of books is also important, she adds.

Farshore's research has shown that, when children are able to choose the books they read, they do intend to read them - rather than being forced to read, for example, their reading book from school.
