Independent booksellers have awarded The Girl Who Speaks Bear by Sophie Anderson (Usborne) the Children's Fiction award for the Books are My Bag award. Don't Worry, Little Crab by Chris Haughton (Walker Books) won the Picture Book category.

The award is judged by a panel of independent booksellers, authors and industry influencers, and highlight the best books in paperbacks to read this summer. There is also an adult category, with the fiction award won by Bernardine Evaristo for Girl, Woman, Other (Penguin) with Lara Maiklem taking the non-fiction award for Mudlarking: Lost and Found on the River Thames (Bloomsbury).
