A website celebrating the publication of Imagine, a picture book set to John Lennon's iconic lyrics, has been launched to encourage the sharing of messages of peace on 21 September, International Day of Peace.
The illustrations have been created by award-winning artist Jean Jullien, and the book is published by Frances Lincoln Children's Books. www.imaginepeacebook.com will encourage children, teachers, carers and parents to write messages of peace, to share in time for the UN's International Day of Peace, 21st September, coinciding with the book's publication date. Juliet Stevenson, one of the many celebrities giving their backing to the book, said, "This book is a beautiful visual version of John Lennon's cry for peace and harmony. Its message for humanity has never been more urgently needed than now." Others including Richard Curtis, Miley Cyrus, Cathy Newman and Lolita Chakrabarti have also pledged their messages of peace. Cressida Cowell and Ross Collins have drawn messages, and Chris Riddell, Malorie Blackman, Michael Morpurgo support the book. The website also features an animated trailer using John Lennon's original song (see YouTube link, below) as well as downloadable activity resources and information about the book's collaboration with Amnesty International. Royalties from the sale of IMAGINE will be donated to Amnesty International. The publisher commented, "We at Frances Lincoln Children's Books invite you to share your messages of peace with others around the world - now more than ever we need to show each other that there's hope for a peaceful future for our children."
