Joint SLA & YLG Conference in June

The 2017 Joint YLG & SLA weekend course Lightbulb Moments: Powered by Librarians will be held over three days from 2325 June 2017 at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate, Yorkshire.

The course will celebrate the 80th anniversary of both the SLA and the CILIP Carnegie Medal, both established in 1937. Themes covered during the weekend will include self-esteem, mental health and reading; book awards and controversial books; visual literacy; e-resources; information literacy and practical reading promotions. There will also be a Carnegie & Kate Greenaway Celebration Gala Dinner on Saturday night. Among the authors and speakers taking part are Chris Riddell, Children's Laureate, David Almond, Amnesty International, Melvin Burgess, Rod Campbell, Lauren Child, Gillian Cross and Kevin Crossley-Holland A varied programme of optional sessions for school and public librarians will also be offered.
