The Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green, London, is showcasing an exhibition dedicated to much-loved author Michael Morpurgo, called Michael Morpurgo: A Lifetime in Stories.

The exhibition, devised by Seven Stories, The National Centre for Childrens Books based in Newcastle, showcases the notebooks and manuscripts that became the classics we know today including War Horse, Private Peaceful, Kensuke's Kingdom and Farm Boy. You can explore the secrets behind Michael's storytelling through his original drafts, adaptations, scripts and unpublished manuscripts. The various and familiar themes in Michael's storytelling, including war, animals and friendship, are explored throughout the exhibition. The exhibition also includes artwork from some of the illustrators who have contributed to Michael's books over his 50-year career - and you will get a chance to meet Joey, the original life-size West End horse puppet from the National Theatre's award-winning stage adaptation of War Horse. Joey was donated to the V&A by Handspring Puppet Company in 2013. The exhibition will run until 25 February 2018 and you can find out more here:
