Budding poets - here's a great competition for those aged 10-13 years to write a poem on the theme of 'place' for the 2017 Betjeman Poetry Prize.
The competition will be judged by former Children's Laureate Chris Riddell and poet Rachel Rooney. The deadline for entries is 31st July 2017. Prizes The top 50 poems will be printed in the Betjeman Poetry Prize 2017 anthology. Six short-listed poets will be invited with their families and teachers to a prize giving on National Poetry Day, 28th September, in St Pancras Station, London, where the winner will be announced. The winning poet will receive 1000 (500 for their school), Eurostar tickets, and will be crowned St Pancras Laureate for 12 months. All six finalists will be invited to attend a three-day poetry workshop in Spring 2018. Every teacher who enters their class also joins a prize draw to win a poet visit.
