Inclusive indie publisher Knights Of is to publish a prequel to Jason Reynolds' bestselling middle grade RUN series, COACH, in October.
COACH tells the story of Otie Brody, a boy obsessed with Mr 9.99 (aka Carl Lewis) and Marty McFly from 'Back to the Future'; a young man who will grow up to inspire the next generation of runners as 'Coach' in the ‘Run' series: Ghost, Lu, Patina, and Sunny.
Young Otie is a sprinter. He loves to run, just like his dad, so when his father arrives home from one of his frequent 'business trips' with a pair of 'Jordans', all his dreams seem to have come true. Maybe now he'll be able to leap like Carl Lewis when he won the Olympic gold medal. But when his new trainers disappear one night, along with his dad, Otie is forced to face a reality: perhaps his dad's 'gone's' are very different from what he's been told.
Jason Reynolds said, "It's been one of my greatest joys in publishing to work with Knights Of over the years, and to cap off the RUN series with them, feels extra sweet. Coach's story is different, and I'm excited for everyone to find out how he became the best coach ever!"
