Book Week Scotland, which takes place during the last week in November, is offering a Young Programmers fund to enable young people to programme their own event for those aged 18-26. Applications must be in by Friday 2 June at 5pm.
The Young Programmers fund is aimed especially at young people who wish to develop a career in the literature sector. There will be opportunities to meet with other young programmers and to hear from people working in the sector - once at the start of the programme and once at the end. Support and guidance will also be given by Scottish Book Trust Applicants will need to be between 18 and 26, and have a passio for books and reading. You will also need a supporting organisation, for example, an employer, a community group, the local library, or your college or university etc. Someone from that organisation will need to be prepared to provide you with regular support and guidance. Events can take place anywhere in Scotland. For the Young Programmers fund, the event can either be open to the public or an event for a specific group, but the event should be designed to be of interest to young adults like you. Events can feature an author/storyteller/illustrator/writer or be an event without an author. The 325 funding for one event or activity can cover an author fee (at least 175), travel and event expenses. Authors can come from anywhere. The events may charge an admission fee, provided the money raised goes towards covering event expenses. You can find out more, here:
