Schools are invited to shadow the CLiPPA Poetry Award, run by CLPE (Centre for Literacy in Primary Education). The shadowing will take place during three weeks in June and free teaching sequences will be provided.

Primary schools from the UK and beyond are invited to take part and to focus on getting children to read, write and perform poetry over the three week period. Films of the shortlisted poets performing and giving writing tips will also be available as part of the shadowing scheme. This year every school that applies for the shadowing scheme can also apply for class tickets to the Poetry Show and Winner Announcement at the National Theatre, London, on 22 June 2018. Tickets will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis. To enter, visit the link, below, and fill in the online application form. The CLiPPA 2018 shortlisted books and corresponding teaching resources will be announced on 26 April. Schools can send videos of their children performing from the shortlisted books as individuals, groups or as a class by 9am on 7 June. Five winning shadowing groups will be picked to perform at the Awards Ceremony National Theatre, London on 22 June 2018 and to participate in performance workshops. This is the fourth year the shadowing scheme has run. The winner of last year's CLiPPA Poetry Award was Kate Wakeling for her collection, Moon Juice.
