Step into the past with Philip Ardagh series

We're giving away three sets of the first two books in Philip Ardagh's The Secret Diary series, published by Nosy Crow in association with the National Trust. We also spoke to Philip Ardagh to find out more about his new series, below.
Each of the books in The Secret Diary series explores what life might have been like for young people living in particular times in the past. The books are aimed at readers aged eight years plus. Each set in our giveaway includes two books: The Secret Diary of Jane Pinny, a Victorian House Maid, which follows a Jane as she moves from servitude in a middle class house to a grand Victorian country residence; and The Secret Diary of John Drawbridge, a Medieval Knight in Training, which follows a young page as he learns how to become a knight. As well as the fictional diary, there are detailed footnotes to help explain the history behind the story. Each of the books has a mystery at its heart so will also be enjoyed by children who like read about mysteries and solving crimes.
