The 500 Words competition is back!

Entries are now open for the 500 Words short story competition from the BBC, for children aged between 5-13 years. The competition will close at 7pm on Thursday 22nd February.
The 500 Words Final will be broadcast live from Hampton Court Palace on BBC Radio 2's Chris Evans Breakfast Show, on Friday 8th June. Parents, guardians and teachers can register for a Submitter Account via the link, below. Once an account has been created, it can be used to upload a single story or a whole school's worth of tales. Teachers and Librarians can also apply to be one of the competition's volunteer judges. Prizes for the six winners include tickets to a spectacular 500 Words Final from Hampton Court Palace, where superstar celebrities will read the winning stories live on the radio, as well as a very special prize - a ride around the Hampton Court Palace grounds in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang PLUS tea on the Thames aboard Her Majesty The Queen's rowbarge, Gloriana! The winners in each age category will also receive: Gold Winners - Chris Evans' height in books (plus 500 books for their school) Silver Winners - HRH The Duchess of Cornwall's height in books Bronze Winners - Their own height in books Some of the entries from last year's competition have been compiled into a new weekly podcast, 500 WORDS Bedtime Stories. There are plenty of writing tips from authors and ideas for getting started on the 500 Words website, below.
