Tony Ross, who illustrates David Walliams's novels and the Horrid Henry books, and Nick Sharratt, who illustrates Jacqueline Wilson's books, are the top most borrowed illustrators in the UK.
This was the first report looking at who are the most popular illustrators among the books borrowed from our public libraries. As well as Tony Ross - who also writes and illustrates The Little Princess books - others in the top ten most borrowed illustrators included Axel Scheffler (illustrator of The Gruffalo and other books by Julia Donaldson); Quentin Blake who illustrates Roald Dahl books among others; Korky Paul (illustrator of Winnie the Witch) and Liz Pichon, who writes and illustrates the Tom Gates books. The current Children's Laureate, Lauren Child, came 16th on the list of the 50 most borrowed illustrators.
