Cressida Cowell, bestselling author of the How to Train Your Dragon books, will be judging this year's Wicked Young Writers Award for those aged five to 25 years!

If you'd like to enter, you will need to write up to 750 words on any subject. The closing date is Monday 27th March 2017. The award includes five different age categories; 5-7 years, 8-10 years, 11-14 years, 15-17 years and 18-25 years. There will also be a For Good Award for Non-Fiction, for essays or articles from 15-25 year olds that recognise the positive impact that people can have on each other, their communities and the world we live in. You can send in your entry by visiting www.WickedYoungWriterAwards.com (or see link, below), where you'll also find writing tips and resources from the award judges. Author Cressida Cowell said, "Last year's finalists addressed really big issues - war, homelessness and prejudice. There was an incredible range of styles and an array of brilliantly original voices, but they all had this in common: they made us judges feel something." The 120 finalists from across the UK will see your work published in the Wicked Young Writer Awards Anthology and you'll be invited to an exclusive ceremony at London's Apollo Victoria, home to the musical Wicked since 2006, where judges and members of the Wicked cast announce who has won in each category. The overall winners from each category will win 50 book/eBook tokens, and the 5-14 year old winners will get 100 worth of books for their school library, donated by Hachette Children's Group. Winners aged 15 years plus will also win an exclusive writing experience while the three schools that submit the most entries will also win a Creative Writing Workshop. Winners in all categories will receive a VIP family experience at the West End production of Wicked, including tickets, an exclusive backstage tour and a meet-and-greet with members of the cast. The award was created and is sponsored by the award-winning musical Wicked and this is the seventh year of the award.
