Winner of the 2016 Picture Book Competition

The overall winner for the 2016 competition was a secondary entry, The Grand Pancake Race, created by William Thompson from Cockermouth School. You can download the picture book, below.

Mick Inkpen said of William's entry: "This is a rollicking, no-holds-barred exercise in imagination. "William's illustrations have exactly the same bravura spirit as his text. Nothing is withheld - loads of great ideas - loads of great jokes - but all contained within a properly structured and really satisfying story. "It is so very hard to contain so many ideas without a story running away from you and losing its shape entirely - but William achieves this brilliantly."
