The Children's Bookshow is offering children the chance to watch a live, online event with children's poet Michael Rosen to celebrate World Book Day 2025. The event is aimed at primary schools, and is free.
Michael Rosen will perform online in a show aimed at children aged 7-11 years, at 11.30am - 12.15pm on World Book Day, Thursday 6th March.
In Michael Rosen's Request Show, Michael will read some of his 'greatest hits' and best-loved poems, as requested by the audience. Schools can send their requests for favourite poems to The Children's Bookshow in advance of the event. Michael will take children's requests into account when deciding on the poems to feature in the show. The digital performance will also include the opportunity for pupils to ask questions and interact with Michael live.
Bookings are open now. Every school that registers for this event will be entered into a draw to WIN a bundle of Michael Rosen's books. The winner will be announced at the end of the live performance.
Michael Rosen is a patron of The Children's Bookshow and has been a part of the charity's programme of live literature events every year since they began in 2003. His performances are guaranteed to deliver laughter, wonder and a renewed excitement for literature. This performance will focus on the joy of poetry - with Michael sharing his tips for students to write their own poems too!
Kate Arafa, co-director of The Children's Bookshow, said that through reading, children "can explore the world, find solace and recognition, humour and surprise" and that the performance with Michael Rosen provides "a wonderful way for children and their teachers to have fun with poetry".
Founded in 2003, The Children's Bookshow is a charity that inspires children with a love of reading. The organisation introduces children to world-class authors and illustrators through a programme of theatre events and in-school workshops.
The core activity of The Children's Bookshow is an annual Autumn tour - a live literature roadshow that brings the joy of reading to children across the U.K. In 2024, the tour delivered performances, workshops and free books to over 8,500 children.
