We'd love to have some reviews back in exchange for the set. You can download and read the first two chapters of Optimists Die First, link below, and read a review here: Optimists Die First - Review A quirky and deeply moving story of friendship, love, trust, grief and guilt written in an engaging style with laugh-out-loud moments and moments of deep sadness. Following a family tragedy, former craft-loving Petula de Wilde has become the ultimate pessimist, seeing danger everywhere and obsessed with avoiding it. Her parents' relationship is disintegrating and she no longer has any true friends to turn to. The developing relationships between Petula and the other social misfits at her weekly art therapy class are beautifully written and very touching, as are her gradual opening up to romance with Jacob and her attempts to rebuild the bond with her former best friend. I found it easy to empathise with the characters in this book, they all felt so real and human. I loved it. 259 pages/ Ages 12+/ Reviewed by Samantha Pett, school librarian.
