Michelle Magorians first book, Goodnight Mister Tom, won the Guardian Childrens Fiction Award and has sold in excess of 1.2 million copies in the UK alone. The 1998 BAFTA award-winning TV film of the book, starring John Thaw, attracted 14 million viewers. Just Henry, Michelles first new book in ten years, has also been optioned by ITV Productions

Born in Southsea, Portsmouth, of a Welsh mother and Irish father, Michelle began writing regularly while studying at the Rose Bruford College of speech and drama in Kent. Having studied mime with the famous Marcel Marceau, she went on to work in theatre, television and film, and has an established reputation as a comedienne, performing in plays and musicals. Michelle also toured with her one woman mime show in Italy and England.

Michelles other books include A Little Love Song, A Spoonful of Jam and Cuckoo in the Nest.
