Reviews
Linda
I read A Golden Eid to my three-year-old and, while much of the detail was a little over her head, it was still a lovely introduction to the celebration of Eid and a gentle way to begin talking about different world faiths.
As a family that isn’t Muslim, it felt like a great stepping stone for helping her understand the celebrations some of her friends observe. The story itself is simple and warm, focusing on the joy of preparing for Eid and the importance of kindness and thinking of others. That message of generosity and community is universal, making the book accessible regardless of faith - or no faith at all.
The illustrations are particularly beautiful: bright, welcoming and full of life. They do a wonderful job of drawing children into the story and bringing the celebration to life. While younger children may not grasp every element, it’s still a charming book to share together. I imagine it would be especially meaningful for Muslim children, offering the joy of seeing their traditions and celebrations represented in a story. Overall, a warm and thoughtful picture book that opens the door to conversations about culture, celebration and kindness.
