Synopsis
Martha is twelve - and very different from other kids, because of her parents. Strict members of a religious group - the Brethren - their rules dominate Martha's life. And one rule is the most important of all: she must never ever invite anyone home. If she does, their shameful secret - Abomination - could be revealed. But as Martha makes her first real friend in Scott, a new boy at school, she begins to wonder. Is she doing the right thing by helping to keep Abomination a secret? And just how far will her parents go to prevent the truth from being known?

Martha is bullied. At her school, she is picked on by the other kids for her clothes and how she is, especially by Tracy Stamper. But a new boy, Scott, starts in her year, and everything begins to change. Will her parents find out who she is seeing at the park, or will Scott find out about her private life at home first? This classic book is timeless! Overflowing with emotions, friendship and real life cases, Robert Swindells has created a master piece of words. This is one of the most, heart warming, realistic books I have ever read, and I will remember it for ever. This will be a better book for older children, because there are slightly frightening parts in it.
