Follow Anisha and her best friend Milo as they try to unravel the mystery of the disappearance of Uncle Tony. The 'wedding of the year' seems to be in serious doubt when Anisha reads a ransom note that has been pushed through the letter box. Who has kidnapped Uncle Tony? And why?

This young middle grade book has all the ups and downs of a vibrant family planning the near-approaching wedding between Aunty Bindi and Uncle Tony. Watch the colourful characters develop as they interact with each other and how they cope in a crisis.

This is a lovely debut by Serena Patel - which is to be followed in the summer by Alisha Accidental Detective: School's Cancelled. Definitely one that 8 - 10 year old will enjoy, and especially those who have enjoyed the Middle School and Dog Diaries series by James Patterson and Steven Butler.

Anisha Mistry is not your usual detective. In fact she isn't a detective at all. But when she picks up a ransom note on the eve of her Auntie Bindi's wedding, about the groom-to-be, she knows that she is the only one who can unravel the mystery. While all around her are losing their heads over the 'wedding of the year' she is looking at all the facts and clues in her logical no-nonsense way. It's what all good scientists do, isn't it? And being a top scientist is her ultimate ambition.

With the support of her lobster-loving friend, Milo, they race from clue to clue, following leads but will they manage to find Uncle Tony before the wedding? Can 10-year-old Anisha really save the day? Or is it just too much for her to solve on her own? Follow Anisha in this pacey whodunnit wrapped up in the madness of pre-wedding panics and family mayhem.

In Anisha, Accidental Detective, Serena Patel takes us on a well-crafted journey. She clearly shows Anisha's logical thinking as she picks up on hints and clues and then uses her systematic approach to disregard or re-focus her attentions. A clever and engaging detective story that is just enough to keep children guessing and racing through the adventure with her.

Links to friendship, blended families and problem solving.
