Perfect for fans of Alex Rider and Artemis Fowl, this action-packed thriller stocking filler is ideal for readers too young for Jack Reacher!

Tom thought going to a luxury ski resort was the holiday he and his mum needed. But he didn't expect kidnappers to take over their chalet - looking for the dangerous technology her boss has created - or for an avalanche to trap them even further. Can Tom figure a way out, before it's too late?

Tom thought a luxury ski resort would be the perfect getaway for him and his mum. However, the holiday quickly turns into a nightmare. When kidnappers storm their chalet in search of dangerous technology, Tom finds himself trapped in the snow-covered mountains, caught in a battle for survival. With an avalanche sealing them in and tensions rising, can Tom escape before time runs out?

In Avalanche, Simon Fox delivers a gripping, fast-paced thriller that keeps readers eagerly turning the pages. The pace of the plot gives a true sense of urgency and suspense and is perfectly balanced with moments of clever problem-solving. Tom and Emily's new found friendship is engaging and evolves naturally as the stakes rise and their survival depends on teamwork.

Fans of Alex Rider and Artemis Fowl will find a lot to love here: action, intrigue, and courageous young heroes who rise to the challenge.  This is a perfectly pitched read for nine-plus readers and is easily accessible for reluctant readers, while satisfying more experienced and older ones.

The author's writing is immersive and vivid, his snowy setting is so atmospheric; you might just find yourself checking the weather outside. This is a rollercoaster action adventure, that I would easily recommend for book clubs, intervention groups and any young reader who is looking for a quick entertaining read.
