Laugh-out-loud funny, original and highly entertaining. Baby's First Jailbreak appeals to a range of ages with its delightful and detailed illustrations accompanying a very humorous narrative that children will delight in returning to again and again. The story, by Jim Whaley, tells the tale of Frank, a baby who owns a zoo in his house, much to the annoyance of his parents. As Frank stole the money for the zoo from a bank, his parents are forced to charge visitors to frequent the zoo. That is until one day Bruce, a baby with very wealthy parents 'constructed a zoo on their private polo pitch'. However, unlike Frank, Bruce does not treat his animals kindly. One night one of the animals seeks out help in a bid to escape Bruce's zoo. Baby Frank puts a plan in motion to jailbreak the poor animals and bring them to his house, where they are treated with love and kindness. The clever rhyming storyline coupled with Stephen Collins' illustrations - the illustrator and resident cartoonist for the Guardian Weekend Magazine, provides readers with fun-filled pictures that are so packed full of comical details, it makes repeat reads almost compulsory. These details provided my children with lots of 'look at that daddy' moments. l'd recommend for children aged 4+. A must-read for parents wanting a fun read with their children.
