An exciting book to look at, Spot the Bird on the Building Site shares facts about construction, using 'I-Spy' to keep children engaged and learning. The pages are brightly coloured and remind me of a simplified 'Where's Wally?' - there's a bird to spot on every page (as the title suggests!) and each page have extra items for young readers to spot too! The book is split into different areas of construction, from building a house, to laying a road, constructing a bridge, diggers, demolition sites, theme parks and even playgrounds! A great read for any children that are keen on building, diggers etc, as it has easily accessible facts embedded within the overall spot the bird game. This book would be good when looking at the environment around you and encouraging children to look more closely at images, to help them access a text. I can think of many little boys who would enjoy this book - and a few little girls too! Picture book / Ages 3+ / Reviewed by Lizi Coombs, teacher.
