Jenny
A light, lively and action-packed adventure story featuring some extreme Princess power! Bronte Tempestra is a princess turned knight-in-training at St Sebastian's School for Squires. It is only the end of the first term but Bronte has already proved herself a fierce force, having defeated a mad scientist trying to mutate the land's forest animals. Now settling into life at knight school, alongside her icekitten, Blue, she is excited for what is to come next ...
When new teachers arrive, including much admired suave celebrity knight, Sir Montford Mallow, the next half term looks to be a flurry of knightly activity. Instead, there comes a flurry of snow - never heard of in this Kingdom! As the snow builds , the lessons on jousting and sword wielding are replaced by less brave and heroic tasks, such as ice sculpting and hair gel applications.
Many student knights are star struck by posing, incredibly confident Sir Mallow whilst Sir Ripple is furiously jealous and feeling less than courtly to his new competition. And all the while, the strange snow keeps building and icekitten Blue and Bronte cross paths with Mallow once too often. Bronte is sure that something (or someone) devious is behind the curiously cold and increasingly chilly weather.
Bronte Tempestra and the Ice Warriors is engaging, entertaining and full of female empowering. This is a story set at a fast and funny pace with a lively young heroine whose own boldness and disbelief at her fellow knights' general lack of courage and vigour endears us to her greatly. In this book, Bronte meets a new, female friend, Nix, who has her back, and an inspiring new, strong female teacher.
Themes of strength of character and standing by your true friends are the positive messages of the tale. The laughs and humour are in the energy and imagination of the story. A fun, joyous book.
