Synopsis
A funny, beautifully illustrated young fiction series about a star come to earth to cause trouble! Ideal for readers aged 6-9, the perfect next step for Isadora Moon fans or readers of Sibeal Pounder and Laura Ellen Anderson.
Nora Nightsky is a star - literally. Her glamorous mum is the North Star, and their dazzling family works hard, bringing to life the Little Bear constellation and sprinkling magic down to earth to grant human wishes. But Nora is nowhere near as shiny as her perfect brother and sister. She prefers a cosy black hole! She doesn't think much of wish-granting, either. Why can't humans solve their own problems!?
Then one day, a girl wishes on Nora for the first time, asking for a pet. Rebelling against the rules, Nora sneaks down to Earth with her best friend Leap, a cute hare constellation, to give the girl a piece of her mind! Nora agrees to help Olivia get a pet - through determination, a cunning plan and PLENTY of mischief. But can she do it before she runs out of stardust and is trapped on Earth forever...?
A charming new young fiction character for readers moving up from Isadora Moon, brilliantly illustrated throughout in black and white by Becka Moor. Nora is a fun, bold, relatable character - and her adorable sparkly hare sidekick, Leap, balances her edge perfectly! Gently introduces facts and mythology about astronomy and constellations in a playful and accessible way. Lots of humour, mischief and antics with a beautiful friendship at the heart.

Nora Nightsky is the first title in an illustrated chapter book series for newly confident readers about a young girl who belongs to a family of wish-granting stars. All of her family, including her mother who just happens to be the North Star, are very excited when Nora receives her first ever wish to grant from an Earth girl who really wants a pet iguana called Fluffy - but Nora is anything but keen to fulfil the wish.
Nora is annoyed by how much her family enjoy granting wishes and resentful of how much stardust energy it takes from them, which means they often must rest and not spend time with her, but what really irritates her is why can't humans solve their own problems?
Determined to teach this infuriating Olivia a lesson, she decides that mischief is in order even if that means breaking a few little rules along the way including hitching a ride to Earth on a comet. . .
Nora is a cheeky, impulsive, bright, and engaging protagonist surrounded by intriguing characters that I am interested in seeing more of in a world which stands out from other series for how it different it is. It also introduces the subject of astronomy in a fun appealing way.
