A day out at the beach turns into the most amazing piratical adventure as Jack and his shipmates let their imaginations run wild. Told in rhyme, the story follows the boys as they create their galleon and set off across the ocean to face whatever lies ahead. The language is rich and stimulating; the rhyme not limiting the word choices at all. The illustrations are charming, capturing those perfect seaside holidays of childhood beautifully and offering so much to discuss. Even the end papers of the book begin and end the story with the family arriving full of excitement and then leaving the beach, exhausted and happy. Story and illustration work perfectly together in this story made for sharing!32 pages 4+
