Reviews
Sue
Does a Bear Wash its Hair? is a wonderful exploration of animals and their habits! Through the perfect mix of rhyming text, snippets of information and delightful illustrations, children can discover so much about animal habits.
The book starts by showing eight activities which humans routinely undertake from keeping clean to going to sleep. Each of these areas then has a section devoted to it, showing how various creatures perform the same tasks, allowing young children to compare these to their own routines. They are sure to be fascinated when learning how decorator crabs dress up and how cows make friends, but undoubtedly, the fact that a sloth has one big poo which is a third of its body weight each week will be the fact that is quoted most often!
The rhyming text is engaging and fun, making the book a pleasure to read aloud and the illustrations are great fun, full of details and humorous thought bubbles. There is a great deal of information presented here, making this a very successful factual text for young readers.
