But then the Germans come, with their guns, and take the town. A soldier shoots a flamingo from the sky, and it falls to earth terribly injured. And even worse is to come: the carousel is damaged, the horses broken. For this vulnerable boy, everything is falling apart.

I really enjoyed flamingo boy as it was full of excitement and jumps. I like the way this book was written as there wasn't one boring sentence. Once I picked up this book I could not put it down again. I recommend this to everyone aged 9+ who loves a story based on real life with twists at every corner.
