Synopsis

High on the mountaintop, Snow is watching the clouds dance by.  And then, something extraordinary happens-Snow begins to melt. She flows down the mountain, into the river, through the city, and out into the ocean.

During her journey, Snow changes. She becomes fluid and can drift with the river currents and dances with the tides.  But there's one more change in store-maybe she will be able to dance and twirl with the clouds through the beautiful open sky.

Lizi

Flow with the Snow is a brilliant rhyming book that personifies the snow and follows their journey through the water cycle. The language in the book is poetic and descriptive enough to be interesting but without blurring the sense for readers. It's a great example of using powerful verbs and description to make a story come alive for a reader. The illustrations are beautiful and there's so much to look at on every page.

Flow with the Snow would work for several different age ranges. This would be excellent for key stage 2 children (ages 7+) learning about the water cycle, and is a high quality text that could be studied in English as a cross-curricular link. The book is also a lovely read as an introduction to the water cycle for younger children, too.

Flow with the Snow is a beautifully written story based on the water cycle. The personification of Snow allows a wonderfully delicate personality to be developed which will really draw readers in.  The illustrations are colourful and clear and allow the story of the water cycle's natural flow shine throughout.

In school this would be a perfect book to have alongside studying the water cycle and has the ability to aid the learning journey in an alternative way. It is a beautiful story that can be enjoyed in its own right. It would be interesting to discuss personification with pupils and how something factual can be turned into a story. I look forward to reading more books by this talented author.
