Grimwood: Party Animals is the fourth book in the wonderful Grimwood series. In this book we return to the forest where anything can happen. Sharon the Party Crow has lost her mojo! Three parties in one day would have proved too much for most of us! Teamwork, friendship and, most importantly, dance skills, will all be put to the test as the gang try to get the party started again!

Young readers will identify with different characters as the story progresses, from the owl, who is much less keen on attending parties from the outset, to others who enthusiastically want Crow to be back to their 'normal selves'. All of the animals have ideas on how to re-motivate their friend, but they have to learn to listen to each other and work together.

These themes are clearly there and can be used when analysing the story or using it as a group text but, they are never laboured, meaning that children reading independently can immerse themselves in the enjoyment of the story and the themes can quietly weave into their thoughts undetected.

Language development is fostered through this wonderful book through the use of the actions and events which are described vividly and with language that will stretch newly independent readers to develop a meaning of a wide range of new words.

This series is a must-have for schools that are serious about developing reading for pleasure, and they make a wonderful study text for group work.
