Fast as Lightening is the latest instalment in the Bad United Series. Louise Forshaw continues the series with this brilliantly written graphic novel. The page designs with different layouts and illustration sizes add interest and the limited language and well chosen words allow the younger reader to use the combination of text and image to become immersed in the story. Chapters are clearly themed and the perfect length to allow for clear times for a reader to take a break, if they can put it down.
This is a brilliant reading for pleasure book for those who are moving away from picture books or the KS2 pupil who finds reading a challenge. This series has been a firm favourite in our library and I know that this will be no different. Children will enjoy discussing the different super powers that other weather systems could bring or how else lightning power could be used.
Louise Forshaw has a wonderful way with words and clear outline illustrations. I always enjoy reading her books and so do those I share them with.
