Synopsis
Return to Grimwood in the wildly funny fifth book in Nadia Shireen's bestselling and brilliantly anarchic illustrated comedy-adventure series. Perfect for readers age 7 to 107, fans of Dog Man, Roald Dahl, Bunny vs Monkey and David Walliams, and anyone who loves to laugh.
Grimwood needs a new mayor! Titus has finally decided he's had enough, leaving behind big antlers to fill. With characters new and old throwing their hats into the ring, who has what it takes, who has a hidden agenda, and who is simply in it for the parties? The only people who can decide the fate of Grimwood are . . . the residents of Grimwood. Oh no.
Fully illustrated throughout and full of heart, laughs and surprises, this is the must-read fifth title in the bestselling and fantastically funny Grimwood series.
Praise for Grimwood: 'Funny, anarchic, original and gloriously silly.' - Richard Osman. Ted and Nancy are my favourite funny foxes EVER.' - Liz Pichon, author of Tom Gates. 'I CACKLED ALOUD on practically every page. Comic gold, tinged with such tenderness.' - Kiran Millwood Hargrave. 'Pure genius!' - Louie Stowell. Grimwood lovers, the wait is over! Rock the Vote is the amazingly funny fifth book in Nadia Shireen's bestselling and brilliantly illustrated comedy-adventure series. Grimwood is on the hunt for a new mayor in the fifth wild and wacky part of Nadia Shireen's bestselling woodland series, with beloved characters throwing their hats in the ring to snaffle the top job.
Nadia has managed to continue the amazingly comical style of the previous Grimwood stories throughout this newest addition. Careful word choice, illustration placement and chapters of an ideal length, makes this series perfect for early chapter book readers and keeps them coming back for more.
Voting is something that young readers will be learning about in different contexts and was part of the British Values curriculum. This is a brilliant way to introduce the concept in a fun way. Also in the classroom, this would also be the perfect book to use for shared focus reading, either as a whole class, allowing discussion about the characters, plot and word choice as you go through, or as a group reader to allow the reader to spend time focusing on the details, predicting the twists and turns and what could be coming next.
The wonderful illustrations throughout add to the fun and comedy for young readers. Grimwood is a firm favourite in our book corners and library and children will enjoy this addition to the series.
