Invasion of the Doggy-Snatchers is the second in the Squirrel and Duck series. The "world's only talking animals" have come from a lab and must hide from humans, but to understand why you need to read the first story, Mission Improbable, as little background is given here.

Usually when Squirrel encounters the dreaded neighbourhood dog, Monty, he barks and chases Squirrel up a tree. But Monty is acting in a very strange way. Not only does he ignore Squirrel, but he also ignores his humans, he acts as if he doesn't know they are there. When they notice that all dogs are behaving oddly, Squirrel and Duck realise that they have all been taken over by aliens.

This leads to a lot of confusion and slapstick humour as the aliens, now in dogs’ bodies try to take over the world; the head of intelligence is not very threatening in his interrogation skills when he is in the body of a chihuahua.

With lots of humour, asides to the reader, madcap adventure, body-swapping and battles with robot hoovers, this is one very silly and funny alien invasion story to enjoy.
