Henry the Artistic Dog is an unusual book but one children will enjoy and find funny because it is about POO!!! In this colourful picture book we meet Henry, who is like every dog but has a hidden talent. He loves walks, he loves street art, sculptures and is very proud of his own sculptures!!! However, his sculptures end up in the bin which disappoints Henry until one day his owner is distracted and his sculpture is left on the grass for all to see.

Henry is happy! Henry is excited! He returns home, unaware of the commotion his sculpture is having with the insects and bugs in the park who think that "Henry's sculpture is a sensation!" Henry's sculpture is moved and he receives a special invitation to visit it at the Bug Hotel where it is on display for all the bugs to see because bugs and insects love poo!!

This book was enjoyed by a class of 6~7 year olds who could not believe that Henry made sculptures out of POO! There were gasps and laughs as I read this, but also good discussion about living things and that this happens to everyone. This book could be used in Science lessons and also learning about pets and the importance of clearing up after they have had a poo so that our locality is kept clean and ready for our community to use.
