Synopsis
The stellar duo behind Hoot Owl: Master of Disguise reunites to create a book that will have children (and their parents!) roaring with laughter once again.
From the team behind the acclaimed Hoot Owl, Master of Disguise comes a very scary read-aloud story ... or is it? Monster wants to be in a scary story - but is he brave enough? Scary stories have creepy witches and creaky stairs and dark hallways and spooky shadows... Oh my goodness me! That is very scary. Maybe, a funny story would be better after all? Brilliantly interactive, children will delight in the wickedly funny turn-of-the-pages, see themselves in the goofy, unconventional monster, and revel in the bold, hilarious illustration of celebrated graphic artist, Jean Jullien.

Monster wants to be in a scary story - but is he brave enough? As he realises that scary stories have creepy witches, creaky stairs and dark hallways in them - maybe a funny story would be better after all?
I Want to be in a Scary Story is a great book that, as well as an entertaining and interactive storyline, teaches children how a story can develop, from thinking about the setting, the characters, the mood of the book and of course the conclusion. It encourages simple discussion and questioning and shows how ideas can evolve and change depending on how the story unfolds.
This is a truly inspirational book which can be used in so many ways to develop early writing. It is also a lot of fun with its twists and turns and changes of direction and motivation. Jean Jullien's bold and fun illustrations will keep every young reader captivated.
