Reviews

Lucy

A wonderful series for young storytellers! This series allows children to tell their own stories through different environments and experiences. At the beginning, it explains how to use the books by reading the question at the top of each page and then choosing their answer from the options using the pictures and words. It also encourages children to talk about the choices they make in as much detail as they can, which will help to develop their reasoning and widen their vocabulary.

In Jungle Adventure, children can choose a hero to go on their adventure with from many characters including a jungle baby, a princess, a nature expert, a jaguar and a monkey. They then choose what they're going to get dressed up in for their adventure, the reason they're going to explore the jungle, the equipment they're going to take with them and the transport they'll take.

The book continues as the reader can choose their journey using an illustrated map before it dives into the jungle and the creatures they may meet there. The structure of the book also means children can retell many different stories, again and again!

I love the layout of this book - it creates a huge amount of freedom for children to tell their own stories while giving them ideas to help their imagination and a structure to support their story. The book has colourful illustrations to help to bring it to life. Although it's important for there to be a wide range of options for children to choose from, some of them feel a little random; in my opinion, it would be improved if the options were more typical of the jungle setting of the story. That said, Jungle Adventure is a lovely book to help children to bring their imaginations and story telling to life!
