Little Cottage: An Autumn Treasury of Recipes, Crafts and Wisdom is a brilliant book to help to teach young children about Autumn! This book has a wealth of knowledge to help children to understand the different aspects of Autumn. It starts with an introduction to the season explaining how we can finally enjoy some of the hard work from the spring and summer whilst also preparing for the coming winter. The contents page at the beginning of the book clearly lays out where to find different crafts to have a go at, a range of factual information about autumn as well as tasty recipes to try with seasonal foods.

The book is heavily illustrated which allows younger children to access it more easily and could make it more appealing for slightly older children too. It allows them to pick it up sporadically, choosing different pages to enjoy each time. The recipes and crafts are also presented clearly and are accessible for all with clear, simple steps to follow as well as diagrams to support children's understanding.

This book helps children to make the most of autumn and the foods we can enjoy during this time. It has lots of recipes for apples and pears as well as how we can used pumpkins and their seeds once we have finished carving them. A great way to educate children on the key elements of the season and how we can make the most of it.
