Synopsis

With beautiful illustration by the hugely talented Migy Blanco and a rhyming text by Karl Newson that rolls off the tongue, this book follows Little Owl on a magical, shooting star filled night. As all the other animals settle down to sleep, Little Owl swoops around the sky, blowing the stars out so it's all dark, until the sun arrives and it's morning. . . but for Little Owl it's time for bed. Goodnight!

Lizi

Little Owl doesn't want to go to sleep, he finds countless reasons as to why he can't sleep and seeks reassurance from his Mummy until he can finally drift off. The story is fairly simplistic and the illustrations help to convey the meaning of each page. Whilst this book will resonate with parents the world over, I found it a little bit forced. However, I can see it's purpose in reassuring reluctant sleepers and think that some of the animals in the story will be entertaining to children. This book is one more for home than the classroom, although you could potentially use it in a classroom/nursery setting to address any anxieties around bedtime. 24 pages / 3+ / Reviewed by Lizi Backhouse, teacher
