Lola and Larch Mend a Magic Mess is the fourth title in the series about a little girl and her fairy best friend. Continuing from Make a Winter Wish, this title moves into the Easter holidays when the duo have a bigger threat than the dastardly Euphorbia Spurge to contend with. The forest including the Fairy Village and the magical stone circle are going to be destroyed by humans wanting to build, ironically, an eco-camping ground. Can Lola and Larch, with help from their families, save the day?

Interestingly, this installment of the endearing, magical, humorous series provides a sort of origin story to the villain Euphorbia Spurge, a fairy who likes nothing more than disrupting and sabotaging the other fairy villagers' lives. Since the spell Euphorbia cast at the end of the previous story backfired, she has lost her magic ability, making her more vulnerable and lonely. Will this new Euphorbia help stop the diggers and work with Lola, Larch, and her long-time nemesis King Ash? Or will the temptation to take advantage of the situation and make herself more powerful be too much to withstand?

This addition to the series is just as enchanting and exciting to read as the previous titles but it feels as if the secondary characters have been developed further with this background to both Euphorbia and King Ash, but also Lola's Grandma and a new character, Larch's Great Aunt Florrie. A fun and charming read.
