Once Upon a Big Idea is book is a brilliant journey through lots of important inventions in our world. The clever rhyming text meanders beautifully through inventions that have changed the world and our lives. Each double page spread draws you in with the vibrant illustrations and text, which informs, asks questions and gives children the opportunity to learn about inventing, materials and the history of inventions that still have a huge impact on our lives today such as the wheel, fire and wood.
When sharing this book with my Year 2 class, the children were thoroughly engaged with the verse, learning new vocabulary and so much about inventions. What an important message to end the book with, a challenge for each of us to make a difference and recycle. To use our ideas to create and recycle. A fantastic book with SO much to discuss and learn from. Once Upon a Big Idea should be in every primary classroom!
