A beautiful book accompanying the Netflix documentary series. Designed to be read and enjoyed by children, this is a stunning addition to any library and is one to be enjoyed for pure pleasure. It would make an excellent beginning to any reference project. Highly visual, this book covers the sections of the planet as covered in each episode of the documentary. Beginning with a map, readers are then invited to tour each landscape and learn about the wildlife and plants that call these habitats their home. This book is a visual delight. Stunning photography is carefully integrated with beautiful illustrations by Richard Jones. The high definition photographs of each landscape take the reader on a tour of planet Earth: under the oceans, through the jungles and savannahs and into the frozen worlds. Jones has given the animals life within each page and especially on the wonderful endpapers which could be the source of much discussion. Linking to current affairs, each section also includes a section about protecting our planet. Sir David Attenborough has written the foreword telling the story of our planet and includes a call to protect the Earth. The end pages think to the future of the planet and how we need to protect the resources that we have and provide clean air. Viewers of the brilliant Netflix documentary will love this visual companion, however, one does not have needed to have seen it to enjoy this book. It stands alone as a visual tour of the world with a strong message. Fabulous. 96 pages / Ages 7-adult / Reviewed by Bryony Davies
